Right across from my old elementary school is a little house that belongs to a little old lady. I really can’t guess how old she is, but she was an old lady when I was in kindergarten.
Her little rancher is surrounded on all sides by a garden she tends to every day, weeding, watering, planting, tilling the soil…and the entire garden is made up of wildflowers.
I walked by a few days ago with my niece, on our way to the playground. My niece stopped at the side of her garden to pick a few huckleberries off the bush growing over the sidewalk, and I noticed that the little old lady was out working in her garden. The sun was low in the sky and filtering through her daisies with a beautiful rosy glow – It was such a perfect picture! Of course, I didn’t have my camera with me. So i decided I would go back another day to try and photograph her in her garden.
I’ve gone by a couple times since then, but never at the right time to catch her out and about. I did, however, get these photographs of her beautiful garden.
I like manicured lawns and gardens…but this one just gets me. It has a magical quality, and it’s randomness reminds me of an impressionist painting.
I hope she realizes what a beautiful garden she’s made.
