Elaine Gebert Photography bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

Autobiographies are tough because I never know what to say about myself or how I can even sum myself up in a few words!

There are the obvious things such as, I'm a photographer, and also a lady. And I can list things I love as so: Weddings, babies, commitment, sunshine, sweaters, shoes, music, movies, reading, cuddles, comics etc etc..

But in a photography bio, I suppose I'm supposed to talk about why I love photography. But it's hard for me to describe it. How can I explain how much I love shooting weddings and capturing young love, or how photographing children makes me feel like a kid again, or even how I'd do a photo shoot every single day if i could without it sounding hokey?

Basically, I'd love to be a part of your special day, whether it be a beautiful wedding, your family spending time together, or just you and I making some awesome images!

Grapefruit Juice, and Gina & Dave’s Engagement photos! – Vancouver Engagement Photography

I have decided that grapefruit juice is essential to my photo editing from now on. Not the pure unsweetened kind…no one reeeally actually likes that stuff. No, the kind with delicious pear, apple and orange juice infused into it. I am on to my third glass, and what has resulted? …

Gina & Dave’s Engagement photos!

Gina and Dave are awesome. They are hilarious. There was lots of funny face making, which resulted in a lot of laughter!
We had our session at Iona beach on a windy evening last week, it was so beautiful. Iona beach is such an interesting place. It’s not your typical beach, like the others in Vancouver. It’s sort of…barren. In a beautiful way.

Our evening started out like this:

Then I made them climb all over the drift wood…

which then lead to these  beautiful photos…

They also brought their super adventurous dog, Toby, who was so adventurous that he jumped right into the 6 inch deep slimy, muddy, goop on the beach where the tide had gone out, about 10 minutes into our session. Needless to say, his muddiness limited the amount of pictures with Gina & Dave =p

It was awesome shooting with Gina & Dave, and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding at the Hart House this Saturday. Yes…this Saturday. 2 days of photos in just over 1 week!

Emerald City

My friend Jules and I are both maids of honour for our friend Sam’s  (from the previous post) wedding coming up in a couple weeks, and we decided it would be a fantastic idea to go on trip together before the big day! Seattle is cheaper than Vegas, and more exciting than staying home…so…seattle it was!

It was a mix of shopping, cocktails, sight-seeing, walking, laughing, eating delicious food, taking hilarious video, buying too many shoes & buying cheap wine from the gas station across from the hotel (mmm).

I didn’t take many photos, I put Sam in charge of that. But here are the few that I took. I did however take lots of video, which you can see on the facebook page soon!

Sam & Kelsey – You & Me Session – Vancouver Portrait Photography

Kelsey is an auto mechanic, Sam is a baker. Sam and Kelsey met while both of them were attending school for automotive mechanics. Yes, Sam went to school for automotive – she is Bad Ass.
Being the only girl in class, Sam was bound to fall for one of the guys, and thank GOD it was Kelsey! The two of them compliment eachother perfectly, I couldn’t imagine a better match.

I’ve known Sam since we were small children. We went through elementary & highschool together, she moved to Nanaimo for school, met Kelsey, fell in love, and now she’s back in Vancouver and she’s getting married! In FOUR WEEKS!

We decided there couldn’t be a better excuse to take awesome pictures of her and Kelsey than an upcoming wedding, so we set aside an afternoon and had a blast.

Sam and Kelsey’s wedding photographers, Jason and Lena from Jaylena Photography, will be taking some awesome photos of Sam & Kelsey, and the wedding party (including 2 maids of honour, one of which is me!!) on June 5th! They also took some amazing engagement photos a couple weeks ago of the couple which are on their blog!

Here are some photos of our couples session.

You two look amazing!

You two are going to have a beautiful wedding, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
